My laptop wont get off the Boot Device screen and the only thing I can think of to fix it is to reformat my hard drive. Is there a way I can get into my system like Safe Mode to get the files I want and then reboot?

Your best bet is to get a boot cd that has the ability to browse your disks and basic network support. Then you can copy the files you need over to another computer on the network. Another option is to have someone that has the needed hardware to install the drive as a slave on their system in order to copy the files. This all assumes the disk itself is good and you have just corrupted your o/s

Please tell me you have a floppy rescue disk, or can boot off of your CD. Once you're booted, you should be able to reach your files in lots of ways. Worst case, you may need to use DOS.

You can always take it somewhere and connect the drive to another computer. Then it can be copied, reformatted, and returned to your machine.
