Do you get ulcers on them too? I do. The discoloration is caused from poor circulation. you've probably also got Venus disease in your legs as well. The little pumps in your lower legs that help pump the blood back to your heart, are not working properly. This makes the blood pool in your legs. It actually seeps out of the blood vessels into the tissue, creating the dark red discoloration. To my knowledge, nothing can be done about it. Wearing compression hose helps to keep the blood from pooling by assisting the pumps move the blood.
