He helped but I think Jennifer Lopez played a big role too. Personally I'm not a huge fan of a whole lot of junk in the trunk... I'm not saying I'm into girls with no asses either, but I think small and full is the best.

I think there have always been men who admired the curvaceous female form. Sir Mix Alot just said what a lot of men were already thinking.
The barely perceptible trend toward a more natural form rather than Twiggy types is from more than just that song. I think women are getting fed up with being told they need to starve themselves to fit into size 0 jeans.

No because women had big butts back then too. Besides look at the models that go down the runway during fashion shows, they look starved.
