My friend Steve had his power shut off for non payment. It was in his ex wifes name and she requested it shut off in December. It was just shut off yesterday. He had not received a bill since December. He says he had an outstanding bill with peco from 4 years ago. Will he have to pay the whole balance before they turn him back on? Is there any assistance he can get? A program? He will not qualify for low income assistance.

You friend needs to look into all of this himself....by contacting the power supply company himself. If he's sincere, I would expect that they would work with him. Normally there are local assistance programs that he should look into as well. This is not gonna go away all by it'self. HE needs to take some initiative to resolve his problem, by working directly with the supplier, and letting them know exactly what he's able to do.

Pepco has plans to get you connect but he may need to pay a hefty amount to cut it on to get a payment plan started~ Also he needs to get it in his name and they will nto do that until the unpaid balance is paid in full. Why not pay the bill? Just because he did nto receieve a bill, does not mean there isn't one. And do nto be mad at the ex-wife she needs to move on and if he wants to live, i guess at the spot then he needs to make some way to get it in his name~ Go ex-wife. Leaving her with that bill. Pay it dude!
