My band is playing its first gig on Saturday. We are still undecided on which song to play for an intro...what would you pick from these selections?

1. Old Time Rock n Roll by Bob Seger
2. Susie Q by CCR
3. Knocking on Heaven's Door by Guns-N-Roses
4. Cocaine by Eric Clapton
5. Taking Care of Business by Bachman-Turner Overdrive
6. Fallen Angel by Poison
Keep in mind this is for an INTRO song. Wht would be the best intro, not just the bst song. Thank you!!!
We also have some orginals, but we want to play something everybody knows first and then introduce the originals.

I understand that some of these songs aren't the original versions. When I said it was "by so-and-so" I meant that is the version we do. Guns-N-Roses version of Knocking on Heaven's Door is nothing like the original. Hope that clears up the confusion.

I would select number 1. Old Time Rock N' Roll by Seger. That way it may possibly get the crowd excited about what to expect next - now knowing that rock music will be favoured for the night. Good luck at your first gig and hope you gain some fans there.

A. Knocking on Heaven's Door is not a Gun-N-Roses song. (They just did a lame cover of it) It's a Dylen song written for the Dead.

B. Susie Q is not by OCR they just did the best cover of it. I forget who did it originaly

C. Doing a cover of a cover is very lame and High Scool Band-like at best. You should learn who actualy wrote these songs then listen to how they played them and then do your own cover.

D. If you MUST open with a cover, you should open with Zepplin's "Been a long time since I rock and Rolled". It's the single best intor song ever written cause people love it and you don't need to be warmed up to play it.

Knocking on Heaven's Door is a good opening song. You say a spiel first..that song is timely for the war happening , especially in Lebanon, Israel and Iraq.. good luck

I have a suggestion , a song that can be added to your repertoire.."Change The World" by Eric Clapton

First let me point out something, Knocking on Heaven's Door is by Bob Dylan not GNR.

I would place Cocaine, because everyone knows and loves it, then you could segway into an original and then your cover of Susie Q

I think Susie Q would be a good intro song...drag out the bass line a little at the beginning...lead singer walks out as the band is playing it then starts singing...crowd goes wild! Sounds like a good idea to me.

I think all the songs are great for an intro, I choose old time rock and roll but I think your should think about which song your bands knows best and can play best and do that song! GOOD LUCK! Rock on!
