I've also experienced lower abdomenal pain, pelvic pain, and pain around belly button. I've been to the dr. but they said everything is normal. That was before I expereinced the severe Cramping followed by a pain that felt like a contraction.

I had bad cramping too. They told me is was just stretching because the baby needs room to grow. I had pains so bad that I would just drop to the floor and cry.

Don't worry. That will only make it worse. I had severe cramping too when I first got pregnant this go round. I was so worried. I miscarried back in January ( I also have a 6 year old), so when I got pregnant this time ( I am 16 weeks) I was so nervous. I did cramp and they kind of felt like contractions. I would go straight to the doctor everytime because I was so nervous about it. As long as there isn't any bleeding, you should be fine. My doctor told me that at this point(since your just 6 weeks) there isn't anything they can do for you if you were to start bleeding. I was devastated to here that. Your body is an amazing thing, and it will take care of you. Stay off your feet as much as you can and try to relax.

Sounds like pre-labor contractions. Since you are 40 weeks the little one might be coming soon. If you should have any doubts call your doctor, even on a Sunday or late at night. Most doctors have an answering service that will give him a call, and then he or she will call you back. Labor contractions are rhythmic, so the next time the contractions start keep time, how long they last, time between each one, etc. You will also want to count how many times your baby moves within an hour. Best of Luck & Congrats on the little one!!

It may or may not be normal. Even the Dr. can't do anything if you are having a miscarriage. You just have to wait and see what happens. If you aren't bleeding at all I wouldn't worry too much about it. P&PT coming your way

It is probably just your uterus stretching- this can be very similar to contractions, trust me, I have had 2 children!

i wouldn't worry too much about it as long as there is no sign of bleeding....cramps are normal during pregnancy due to the growing uterus causing your ligaments to stretch.......congrats and good luck!

I doubt its contractions...most likely it's your uterus but contact your doc just in case
