No it isn't,,i own a repair shop ,,and we do all the oil changes around 3-3500 miles unless it,s synthetic oil,,on that stuff you can easily go 6-7000 miles,,it is recommended that you run it at least that long,,but then it cost more too,,but 3000 is a good point to change it at,if you was to go over a little it wont hurt it as long as it is full,,and don't get too bad dirty,if you live on a dusty road you need to change it every 3000,,because engines have to breath,,and they can take in dust,,we do at least 15 -20 changes a day here,,and we try to remind people to keep track of there mileage,,i hope his help,s.

I drive an F150 with a 8 cyl. engine. My owners manual calls for me to change the oil every 5000 miles. In the summer, because it's soooo hot in Texas, I change it every 3000 miles but spring, fall and winter I change it like the manual suggests.

No, in my experience (of nearly 50 years of driving) most automobile owner's manuals recommend an oil change at 3000 miles.

No. even u can run ur more than 3000 miles less than 3500.. it wont effect ur car at all unless its pretty old. 3000 miles of oil change is in general for all cars

It's recommended. You can go a little over, but I would say no more than 4,000. As long as you check your oil often to make sure it's not dirty or low, then it should be okay. It also depends on your car. If you see your car's oil getting dirty around 4,500, then change it that often. It's just to keep a clean engine and to keep it lasting long.

Yes it is, there's no problem waiting till 4000-4500 miles per change. You start getting into trouble when you wait 6-8k because the oil begins to break down. Depends how hard you drive your car too. I always change mine around 4500 miles....no problems.

Depends on what type of oil your using and your driving habits!
I use synthetilc oil, and most of my driving is around town so I don't change mine but every 5,000 miles. But on most all other non synthetic types of oil, 3,000 miles is usually recommended.

I once went 5 years without an oil change on my Volkswagon Fox, it ran just fine until I hit a deer and totalled it....
