My brother, me and our Mexican guide were charged by a BIG crocodile (nicknamed "Johnson by the locals) that left his spot on the riverbank but stopped short and growled a warning. He could have closed the 60-70 foot gap in a Spokane minute and nailed one of us - probably me as the oldest and slowest .!!

In a short sprint a crocodile would win Thats because an crocodile can run as fast as 35 miles per hour, but not for a long time. But please -- don't try to find this out for yourself! As with all wildlife, they aren't likely to bother you if you don't bother them. So, stay safe and watch from a distance.

A crocodile is quicker, but in a long distance, a human is generally faster unless they are fat or crippled.

A croc can outrun a human in a sprint. There is even some who state it can outrun a horse for a short distance. But it can not run for any great distance. The croc runs straight that is why they say when running from one to zig zag. Just hopefully you do not zig when you should have zagged.
