We are created by God in His own image. It may sound strange to you but u can actually call unto this God with all sincerity. Tell him to prove himself to you if He actually exists and you will be surprised what the revelation will be. He is real and knows everything about you because He is your creator.

The best answers to this question comes from people who have studied both religion and science. Dan Brown in Da Vinci Code tried to say something similar by making the world's most advanced scientist in his book a devout believer of God. Some of the world's most profound scientific minds also believed in God.

Take a good look at the people who stand completely on one or the other side of this debate. They are usually people who are raised completely in faith or completely in science and do not have an understanding of the other. Those statements can not be all encompassing and should not represent the modern man's ideology. I would invite someone who has spent decades persuing both religion and science to share their views. I am not qualified to do so.

If the word god means everything every action and thought and so on regardless as to how fast evolution occurs the end results are the same.God is=>universe. Many people say that we are evolved. We have not gone as far as we can go. Mud contains the building blocks for life so I would say yes. From dust ye have come and dust ye shall return. Believe and argue what ever you want it doesn't change the fact that we are here.

First of all, the bible and "God" go on the basis of belief. There has never been proof of Christ's existence. No Ark of the covenant, no Noah's Ark, nothing. Theology has all been handed down over time to create the greatest story ever told. The "King James Version" is just that, a kings version of what happened.

If Adam and Eve were the first humans on Earth, they sure bread some ugly damn kids in Neaderthal man. But that can't be possible if the bible says they begat someone else. Where in time do Adam and Eve rate when Dinasaurs have been here for millions of years, and don't tell me there is no proof of them ever being on this planet.

I used to go to church with my parents until I started asking questions that they couldn't answer. Not even the pastors can prove anything, they all go by what they are taught. I started to think for myself and rationalized that we are here. Somehow there is life on this planet. It was not by someone called God.

God made man out of the slime of the earth. That explains a lot.

Chapter 2 of Genesis was written about 2,500 years ago and represents the scientific knowledge of the Hebrew people at the time. Chapter 1 was written about 100 BC because new scientific thinking made the old stuff appear to be rubbish. Perhaps we ought to add a Chapter 0. In the beginning there was nothing and it exploded ... evolution ... survival of the fittest ... the selfish gene ... all that stuff. In 2,000 years time, people will think it's hilarious.

Are You in UK ? There was a BBC TV series called "Earth Story" with Aubrey Manning . It was first broadcast about 10 years ago. It has been repeated on The UKTV History Channel and is now available on DVD for about 12 quid. ( I have just bought a copy ) A really interesting series, it explains how the earth was formed and how it works, in laymans terms but without been too condecending. One of the best thing the BBC has ever produced.

The two propositions are not incompatible, because the animals were also created out of mud. If there is a god, He may as well have created man through an evolutionary process than out of the blue.
Science cannot disprove religion, and religion cannot disprove science.

Wether or not where or who we came from is of any realevance to our survival at the moment. When one asks a question such as this I tend to view them as a trapped historian, seeking nothing more then ones own persoonal holy grail. Either that or you are just an antagonist.

Many people confuse evolution and natural selection. For example you will find this type of disinformation in the idium of Design sciences...When Charles Darwin introduced the theory of evolution through natural selection 143 years ago, the scientists of the day argued over it fiercely, but the massing evidence from paleontology, genetics, zoology, molecular biology and other fields gradually established evolution's truth beyond reasonable doubt. Today that battle has been won everywhere--except in the public imagination.
Embarrassingly, in the 21st century, in the most scientifically advanced nation the world has ever known, creationists can still persuade politicians, judges and ordinary citizens that evolution is a flawed, poorly supported fantasy. They lobby for creationist ideas such as "intelligent design" to be taught as alternatives to evolution in science classrooms. As this article goes to press, the Ohio Board of Education is debating whether to mandate such a change. Some antievolutionists, such as Philip E. Johnson, a law professor at the University of California at Berkeley and author of Darwin on Trial, admit that they intend for intelligent-design theory to serve as a "wedge" for reopening science classrooms to discussions of God.

Birds, fish, mammals, take a look at the skeleton of each and you will see similarities that cannot be denied - they must all of had some common ancestor. The number of bones in a birds' wing can be en-likened to our hands - and the same with a fishes' fins.
God may well have made us in his own likeness and our first ancestors may well have been Adam and Eve - but did anyone ever take a photograph of what they actually looked like?

Iristine is oh so wrong. We are all qualified to give our opinions by being alive.

Ask yourself this: if each of us had been born in a Muslim state with Muslim parents, then we would probably be Muslim. Same goes for all the other religions. Look at Jehovah's Witness for a nice, simple example of indoctrination.

Freedom of thought? Pass me the Orang Utan any day.
