a check was issued to me from another state, how do i know if it"s good or not?

call the bank on the check

You should be able to call their bank to verify funds. The name of the bank and the account number will be on the check.

You can try cashing it at the bank that it is drawn off of. They should know immediatly if the funds are there or not, or if it is a fake account.

Take it to your bank and they can run a check on it before you cash or deposit it.
