W.E.B. Griffin writes great fiction. All of his series are good reading. The others: John Steinbeck, "Of Mice and Men"; William Golding, "Lord of the Flies"; Harper Lee, "To Kill a Mockingbird";
David Taylor M.S., "Is There a Doctor In the Zoo?"; Stephen R Donaldson, "The Chronicles Of Thomas Covenant The Unbeliever"

The best fiction is certainly....
Fantasy...J.R.R. Tokien (do yourself a favor and read The Hobbit and then The Lord of the Rings)
Spy....John LeCarre (i would start with the Smiley novels...in order - A Call for the Dead, A Murder of Quality, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Honorable Schoolboy, Smiley's People)
Classics....I wouldn't miss Catcher in the Rye or The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn
Once you've read those, get back to me.

Does anyone actually have NO CLUE at all???
Goodness it is as plain as the wart on your nose...
"Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak!"
"I have been reading since 1963 and really well since 1967 There are too many BOOKS I have read in that time"...but one should have clues IF they are quick enough, and wise...
QUOTES:
"To the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure."
"You look in excellent health to me, Potter, so you will excuse me if I don't let you off homework today. I assure you that if you die, you need not hand it in."
'One person can't feel all that at once, they'd explode.'
'Then you should have died' ' died rather than betray your friends, as we would have done for you'
"Yer a wizard, 'arry."
