Democrats seem enamored by socialism, this is true.
But they also unwittingly worship fascism. Fascism and communism may have differed in some ways, but they were alike in this: Both were concerned for the "common good," and would trample on the rights of average citizens, even to the point of killing millions, in the name of the "common good."
Even the name "fascism" comes from the term "fasces" or "fasciti" which denoted a bundle of sticks tightly bound together, meaning collectivism. It was suppression of individualism. Scary.
Love,Jack.

I think right now the Democrats are the party for fiscal responsibility. The Republicans are driving our deficits to record levels, spending hundreds of billions on a war while at the same time giving tax breaks so that the average American won't have to decide right now whether the war is even worth it. Instead our kids and grandkids will have to pay off more than 1 TRILLION DOLLARS in debt that will result from this war.
With regard to socialism, which President finally enacted welfare reform that greatly reduced welfare expenditures and cut the numbers of people on the dole? Bill Clinton.
Which president has reduced border enforcement to near-zero and has entirely gutted the ability of the INS to keep a lid on illegal immigration? George Bush.
To his credit as an anti socialist, W has managed to gut education spending, environmental protection and also stick seniors with a lame prescription drug benefit. But that can hardly make up for the massive levels of debt that he has wracked up.
After president Reagan drove our national debt to record levels, Clinton was able to right the ship per se and get our spending back in check. I'm not sure that we'll ever get out from under the damage Bush Jr. has done.
So if by socialist you mean fiscally responsible - then yes Democrats are socialists.

No,you know Democrats are not "marxists".
The "common sense" for your mental disorder here is understanding that you are a puppet-liar for a failing Republican party in an election year.
Are you a staged prop for the RNC.org?
You need to lay of the right-wind mind control and start thinking for yourself. Why do want to lie about a centrist party in the face of a Republican party that has made the biggest mess in world history?

the dems are indeed fans of socialism my congressman is a socialist. There are many good points to that form of gov't. You only need to look at every other industrialized nation to see we are the exception not the rule. Everybody gets healthcare, cradle to grave benefits. These countries usually don't end up in no win wars in the middle east. The dems here however are what i call socialist lite combining socialist goals with american political realities.

Yes, I deny that. I don't think it's wrong for government to work in favor of its citizens rather than the highest bidder.

Democrats aren’t even close to as "socialist" as a lot of European nations, which function great by the way (I've lived in Europe a huge portion of my life)

From the above answers you can clearly tell: they deny it. No suprise there, for Liberals tend to deny things commonsensical and everything else that does not jive with their touchy feelings.

whats your point?I am a Democrat because Democrats defend our progressive heritage, including traditions of respect for truth, basic fairness, personal privacy and universal dignity.
I am a Democrat because Democrats stand for responsible stewardship - responsible stewardship of God's Creation, of America's wealth, of the sick and the needy, and of our democratic institutions.
I am a Democrat because Democrats support a wise defense - a defense that honors our soldiers, strengthens our alliances, keeps America's word, and wins wars but pursues peace.
Democrats stand for our progressive heritage, responsible stewardship, and a wise defense. Republicans stand for oppressive values, abuse of power, and reckless aggression. For me, the choice is clear.

They are big fans of socialist, and communist governments. It is a mental disorder that there is no cure for but common sense, they just need to see the light.
