turn the thermostat off then on thats how mine fires up.
I have a box outside with a meter the man came and pressed a reset button at very top of the box was hidden actually see if you have one.
ring the gas company and ask them any ideas if you can sort it urself instead of paying for some man to press a button like mine.

Make sure you have water Actualy going thru the water heater???? Turn water off and un screw one of the pipes THE HOT WATER SIDE,Turn the water on to the house and see if you have water going down in the water heater From the cold side and comming out where you unscrewed the pipe on the hot water side

Yep, I agree, get someone to look at it. A corgi registered plumber should do the trick, but can be expensive.

your pilot light has probably gone off... can you smell gas? If so turn and run!!!
