Look into purchasing an Inversion Table... it helps you by suspending you upside down (easy to get in and out though) and helps relieve pressure on the spine... you only need to do it for a few minutes, a few times a day... and the results are miraculous.

Be very careful what you do. It is probably a good idea if you contact a doctor for this question. Do not see a chiropractor.
I had a bulging L4 and L5 disc and because of physical therapy and exercise I ended up with it ruptured and had to have surgery.
The easiest way to ease pain is to stretch the muscles in that area and putting ice on the site but do this for only about 20 minutes at a time.

If you have a bulging disk, I would see a chiropractor for treatment first. He or she can advise you on the best way to keep your alignment. FYI, I hurt my back years ago, the L5 disc and with it sciatic pain, and yoga keeps me pain free.

I must tell you this with a disclaimer. If you talk to any medical doctors especially in the orthopedics field they will tell you never to seek the advice of a chiropractor. I have seen too many patients who have been "manipulated" by chiropractors and it makes their problems worse. If you are having muscle spasms, the most cost effective way to seek relief is hot baths, stretching, physical therapy, and using a massage therapist. Massage therapists massage muscles just like a chiropractor does bu without extra pushing. pulling, and xrays that are not going to tell you anything anyway. I must say that chiropractors are often seen as the current day medical quack. Please be careful in any treatment you seek.
