if you get caught...or are there ways to get caught after you done it?

In most areas it can be a misdemeanor charge- If things are broken then the seriousness can go to the felony level. State by state the level and fines vary.
You can get caught after the fact- my son was indeed caught well after the fact (six weeks)
Most people think T-P is just a prank and they make their kids clean up the mess. A few people go off the deep end with just that-it pays to know the parents of your t-p areas.
On the other hand most people do not like or appreciate damage- then saying you are sorry, fixing the problem and is the way to go!

It just depends on the following:
If you have a previous file or record and what's in it,
The mood the Judge is in,
What mood your neighbor is in.
If the vandalism is going to happen to someone that has been vandalized recently, they probably are still watching.
Be cautious. Do it at night, and wear black.
