If a 13 year old girl is being sexually abused (raped) by her father, but she is afraid to tell b/c of the very real fear of being split from her sisters and placed in foster care-what is the best solution to this problem?

Remain silent or get split up?

You can prevent being split up from your sisters by identifying a relative or someone who has had the role of a relative to "get ready" to take temporary custody of all of you once you tell the authorities and IF they find that the mother failed to protect her daughter, in that mother's sometimes block out what they suspect is happening. Relatives must not have serious criminal history (i.e. sex abuse, assaults, robberies, numerous dui's, etc.) The mother can retain custody of all of her children IF she immediately moves to get a stayaway from the father and, better yet, if she calls the authorities and reports what her daughter has told her. This has to happen even if she suspects her daughter is lying, as some teens do, unbelievable as that may seem.
She (or you) must tell her mother unless her mother is not protective. She (or you) must call the child abuse hotline in her county and state. Call 411 and get the phone number. But do it now.
Immediately go to a trusted adult and get these girls away from the father while the matter is investigated. Mother should do that immediately unless she is part of the problem. Adult/mom/you/victim MUST contact authorities NOW.
Thank you for caring enough to do something to stop the abuse.

Now they don't get split from their siblings automatically it is only if the mother does not do her part in protecting the child or children. So normally what is done is that they request that the father leave the house until an investigation is completed, if it turns out that yes he is a problem then he is arrested. Sometimes mothers will support what the child is saying (but don't be surprised it this is not so in your case). If for some reason your mother is not then the child is removed from the home. But it is better for the child not to stay in this environment and ignore it. The majority of children are affected by this and can not leave things in the past. But do try and advise the child to go on with life and that her/his life is what she makes of it from this point on. Only she can decide her future.

None of the children should be around this man, and there is a very good chance that they could all be placed with another family member. The court will always try and keep children with someone in the family rather than sending them to foster care. Tell someone ASAP!!!!

if a father is raping ONE daughter the chances are that he WILL rape the other two.
child protective services would remove ALL children in the house. NEVER be silent of child abuse/sexual abuse!
GET OUT OF THERE!!!

Wow, that's an interesting dilemma. The guy needs to be dealt with. If there is someway to deal with him without breaking up the kids, then it needs to be done. Good Luck
