well unfortunatly advertising is an expence in itself.Aside from paying a company to submit your site to web searches you could start by advertising localy. Print out flyers and post them at laundry mats and grocery stores. Or if you have a local classifieds you could use that. once you start generating a few visitors you may consider becoming an affiliate of a company that has a similar theme I have a web page that deals with toys so I have links to ebay items in the toys section. It cost nothing to be an affiliate but if someone buys a toy through the link I get a percentage of it. this money I use to pay for advertising of my site. You can go to any search engine and type in affiliate programs to get an idea of whats out there hope this helps

There are a number of free resources available to advertise your website and increase traffic. You can advertise on relevant free classifieds ( www.craigslist.org) ,directories (dmoz) and relevant forums. Major search engines like Yahoo, Google , MSN search are a major source of visitors for most websites and you can submit your website to these search engines for free. You can also run contests offering prizes to regular visitors. I have found the following website useful

You should find out exactly what they mean by advertising. How exactly will they advertise? If all they're going to do is list you in some web directories and submit your site to some search engines, its probably not worth their price if its over $50 bucks.

First you'll want to submit it to all the major search engines... Google, Yahoo, Dogpile.. etc.. You can get ad's on websites for fairly cheap as long as their not major websites. You have to make a logo banner with a link to your website to use as an ad on other peoples websites. I will try to find some links for search engine submitters for you.

advertising does cost extra but advertising is where you are going to make the most money. I highly recommend Overture.com!
Hint: keep in mind minimum is $.10 so to put 50.00 is insane and won't really help you taht much. Be as specific as you can in your description!

Keywords are words you want typed to bring up your site. For example, if your site is about online games, your keywords would be "games", "online", "rpg"...these of that nature.
You can submit your site to Google and Yahoo search engines.

put some useful information, but It will take time. design your website simple, effective and realistic. don't just add crap on it. like personal information or how many babies you have, for that you can use myspace.com or a create separate page.
if you offer services, provide research topics, and other related information into your website.
