Expected from EVERYONE are the following:
- Honesty (the very basic one)
- A sense of community (it's not all about you)
- Civility (you're not going to start fighting for nothing)
- Reciprocity (if you get something, please give something back)
- Resourcefulness (make yourself useful at least in some area)
- Positive attitude (help the wheel of society turn smoothly)
- Reliability (if you say something, keep up with your word)
- Etiquette (adjust your behavior to the immediate demands of your environment)
Those who know how to "mock" or "parody" these basic expectations are usually the people we learn to love the most, by the way.
Like those who wear a pink suit in an all-black suit party. It's certainly ethical, positive, honest, and reliable, but it's pretty unexpected. And funny for some, an insult for others. But this all goes to some other areas which aren't related to the EXPECTATIONS in people, unless otherwise noted.
So playing with these ideas is what makes life great.

one should not expect more than what u an do yourself for others. that is rule 1. secondly each one of is living based on the expectation of the society. it starts from your immediate family like your parents expect u to behave in a particular manner, and they themselves are influenced by the society. if we work it bacwards we will realise no one is living his own way. there have been very few people who defy the society and are generally termed as eccenctrics. But the point is that only those who have gone beyond the social expectations have taken the society to a new technological high. Otherwise we would have still believed that earth is the centre of universe and it is flat as well.

Everyone is different when it comes down to this subject. Some people expect a lot from one person. then there are people who expect very little out a person. So all you can do in life is to be yourself. If you think you need improvements then you do so. If not. Then there is someone out there that will except you for that way you truly are. You can't be what everyone expect. Just be you.

I, personally expect someone to be respectful, mannerly, honest, and not steal from me. I`ll gladly help someone should they ask.
Honesty is a big thing for me. I never ask people to do anything that I wouldn`t be willing to do myself. So let`s try to make a better world. Make someone elses day and be the best you can be. If they aren`t the same, at least you can feel good about you!
Put on smile on someone elses face today. Use your manners!

no one can live w/o expecations..unless u have given up on life. or on people. the thing about people, and society, and relationships, is that if u do anything for someone else, like take care of a child, or give love to a husband, or take care of a brother or sister.. do u not expect anything back from them? do u not expect love, nurture, respect back from people u are working hard to take care of? there's nothing wrong w/ expecatations..*as long as* u are working hard on fulfilling the expecations of urself, as well as other people. also, what u do if someone does NOT fulfill ur expecation is important to; if u can give them a chance to work on it, be better, make up for mistakes, then u are giving them that benefit of the doubt regardless of their mistakes! but if that person doens't care, doesn't appreciate, doesn't respect, then that person is not satisfying ur expecations, and not doing anything to change it, and u will be disappointed.

I don't normally have standards, but I guess I expect some kindness usually, some decency... probably most people do. Nothing is really expected of you though, don't try so hard to be accepted.

Brother, i just read all the other users answers and did i go the wrong direction with this answer. What the heck I stand by it.
You create your reality. You choose to make your life a heaven or hell. I stand up for myself especially when parents of children in my husbands family try to pawn off their kids to spend the night at Aunties(my) house!
I don't care if they snub me and talk about me they had the kid deal with it. You see? Hold up a stop sign or just use your palm up in their face and say STOP THE MANIPULATION. they won't bother you again.
I also limit the number of people involved in my life so I won't have to be rude to so many. So stay happy! You can do it! good luck
Or you could listen to the other Yahoo users, I might just be just another NUT!
