The greatest Rock Instrumental in my opinion is Walk Don't Run 64 by The Ventures It is pure instrumental, no intro, no solo performance within a song. A few others I like are The Lonely Bull by Herb Alpert and the Tiajuana Brass, Telstar by the Tornadoes, and Sleepwalk by Santo & Johnny

I don't have my music with me, so I don't remember the name of it (I am terrible at titles)...but it is the last song on the Smooth album by Santana. Santana and Eric Clapton did a thirteen minute session together that blew my mind. I have heard some great stuff from Stevie Ray Vaughn, too. Yes, Metallica can kick it, too. They are my ideal of what it is to be a real musician. I know talent when I see it...and I don't confine myself to genre...I do it all. Have you heard Audio Slave? Amazing.
