is the bump on the outside or inside?
If its on the outside I've had those... i soak my nose in warm water with sea salt and then take a pair of tweezers and pull the bump off. Normally it hurts like hell.. but it will go away after a few more soaks in sea salt.
Also, try to avoid putting makeup around your piercing... it clogs the piercing and could lead to more infections.. and make sure you wash your face at LEAST once a day if not twice to get rid of excess oil and dirt. The sea salt can usually be found in the spices isle at your supermarket with the regular salt.. its usually about 5 bucks for a bottle of it. Sea salt helps heal wounds and open infections just so you know and don't think I'm crazy for soaking my nose in sea salt. I've only had two of those and it was years ago.. If you don't want to use the sea salt you can try rubbing alcohol first then peroxide and then rubbing alcohol again on a cotton ball, it will burn the second time because the peroxide will have opened it up but it will kill the infection and the bump will go away..
hope this helps.

I have had my nose pierced for six years and the throughout the first year it did have a tendency to become infected more easily. It does sound like it is infected - you should was the area with clean hands and an anti-bacterial soap, such as dial. You could also clean the area with alcohol on a q-tip but depending on your skin, it may further iritate it. If the bump doesn't go away after one week of cleaning it in this way you should probably either see your doctor or consult someone at a reputable piercing location about any other problems that it may be.

I've had my nose pierced for almost a year and I've had three bumps come and go. The first from the original piercing its self, second change into a hoop ring and third a change in metal.
I tried everything & nothing worked, even alcohol stopped and was just trying my skin up making it more noticeable (don't say you're not supposed to use alcohol I was desperate)
But I discovered putting water mixed baking soda on it for a couple of hours will shrink it completely!

Pretty much you really just have to keep it clean. I've got a nose piercing and mine did that on and off for the first year whenever it got irritated. I dont' think it is necessarily an infection but it signals that your skin is irritated. I usually found it when it was snagged by something.
The best thing to do is keep it clean with your saline solution...like 3 times a day and remember to rotate it. If you have a ring handy to put in it instead of a post piercing that may help too...it stays cleaner that way and can move better. Another option for cleaning is a seaweed solution that most of your piercing stores can recommend. My roommate used it on her bellybutton piercing too...it really works eventhough it smells a bit (do it before bed or something!)

RE:
nose piercing bump?
I have had my nose pierced since october of last year, and every so often it gets a big bump around it. I think it is an infection? Please dont tell me to take it out because you are not supposed to do that if it is infected, and I wont. Do you have any suggestions on how to clean it or get rid of...

Do not remove it. Don't bother with the doctor - if it was infection you'd know it (symptoms include localized warmth, fever, GREEN (or another funky color) discharge, extreme pain, extreme swelling) and it certainly wouldn't "come and go."
DO NOT USE ALCOHOL, PEROXIDE OR BACTINE. These will all irritate your piercing.
Do not use lotions, ointments, or gels. This keeps your piercing too moist and that makes it an even more attractive place for bacteria.
I suggest doing sea salt soaks 2-3x daily. Mix 1/4 tsp non-iodized sea salt to 8 oz warm water. You can buy sea salt in most grocery stores and all health stores. Make sure you get NON-IODIZED.
Good soap prodcuts are Satin or Provon. These a mild anti-microbials. Avoid anything else, as it can be too harsh.
DON'T PICK AT IT WITH TWEEZERS, your hands, or anything else. Don't touch it unless you're cleaning it (and wash your hands prior!) By touching it all the time, you are just irritating it and running the chance of infecting it with your dirty hands.

if you are really worried, go to the piercing shop and ask them to look at it. they are the experts after all. if you just want a way to clean it, try a salt water soak and a saline solution to clean it. I would stay away from alcohol and hydrogen peroxide, because people have now found that it irritates wounds more than it does any good. if you don't have saline as an option you can use antibacterial soap and water. basically, don't touch it unless you have just washed your hands and make sure to clean it out at least twice a day.

When you have acne it’s really important to keep your skin clean and to have a healthy diet, so drink lots of water (and green tea!) and exfoliate once a week (twice if you have oily skin) with a paste of honey, lemon and sugar. For creams to use, look up the Monsia skincare line, they have everything you need to keep your skin clean and to clear and brighten it up. They give you the moisturizer (with sunscreen), toner, cleanser and night repair cream. If you use all that and exfoliate and eat properly then your acne will disappear, I know because that’s what I did.
