A theory is basically an induction and there is long running philosophical dispute about the degree of validity. However, if that is confirmed by empirical observation then it can be considered as shown to be true.

yes you can. My theory is that my wife will get me a present for my birthday, A theory is just a statement used to explain a group of facts or phenomena. Well the phenomena of my birthday involves the fact i get cake and we celebrate, so based on this I believe my wife will get me a present. The proof comes on my birthday to see weather or not my theory held. and it has been for the last 20 years :)

Of course on a more scientific principle, theories in math can be proven to be facts, like morgans law was once a theory as was arithmetic and algebra. they are proven facts now.

theory is a theory until it is proved. once it is proved it becomes a fact.

A theory is a theory until it is proven correct. Then it is law. ie. Newtons Law of Gravity

it can and we'll try to prove all theorys, until then there just theorys instead of fact.

I used to believe the world was flat and that the sun and planets revolved around us, that was the theory back in the day. I was able to produce evidence to suggest otherwise, and for my reward they imprisoned me and threatened to excommunicate me for my hearsay.... go figure.
