you can try mixing breast milk and formula. that might help. however, most doctors and the latest research suggests a baby should be breastfed up until 1 year of age. breastfeeding is difficult and socially people still get a little uncomfortable, but for the healthiest baby possible, doctors say to breastfeed as long as possible, and up to a year of age. so if she's not ready, why fight it? at least she'll be healthy.
***i just read an article that states more infants are suffering from obesity (aka they have more "baby fat") which can cause them to be heavier later on in life and create more health problems like increased risk for type II diabetes. they say breastfeeding helps infants put weight on more slowly and minimizes the risk of obesity. the article suggests breastfeeding for AT LEAST 4-6 months. you have already done that, but if she isn't taking formula, why risk her putting on weight and having a problem later on in life?

If you're the one offering the formula, she might reject it because she knows you have the "good stuff." If that's the case, maybe having another person give her formula when you're out. You might even try giving the formula to her in a sippy cup, so that it's a totally new thing. It might add interest and make her less likely to refuse it. Finally, you might switch formulas until you find one she'll drink. Of course, in another 5 months, she'll be able to drink regular milk! :)

If you have any breastmilk left, try pumping and putting it in a bottle and adding two ounces of formula to it. And then every week add more formula and less breastmilk. Have you tried the carnation good start? Also, maybe make the formula a little more watery, so it is not as strong.

Dont give her formula anymore. If baby is handling solid food well, maybe she is ready to go on regular milk. Or if your doctor wants you to keep with the formula, put it in a sippy cup.

My daughter refused formula when she was 6 months old. The Dr. wasn't thrilled about it but put her on infant vitamins to make up for what she wasn't getting in formula. I really didn't think it was that big of a deal.

My friend is having the same problem. The advice my mum, and the health visitors gave was try with a tippy cup or even a normal cup and have someone else do it. Go out for a few hours and let your partner/friend/mum try it out.
Will your baby take water from a cup? you could start with that.
A lot of breast fed babies dont take bottles but will take cups

Have you tried mixing breastmilk with the formula. I know that a lot of mothers do this in order to get them used to it. My son was given mixed from day one because he was a preemie and the nurses at Children's hosp. told me it was better for him to have the mixed so he would gain weight a little faster. DO NOT LISTEN TO JENNIFER!!! It can be EXTREMELY dangerous to give a baby under 1 year of age milk!! Talk to your baby's doctor before trying this!!

Sometimes that is a sign of allergy to dairy/soy. Some babies just know that what's in the bottle isn't good for them.
