as additional info/recommendations:
anything more than 256MB(total) memory should be fine when running XP, although if you make windows run for performance not eXPerience (Rt. Click My Comp.> Properties> Advanc.> Perform.> tick best performance), you can make do with 128MB
Vista uses min 512MB or 1GB for itself, so then you'd need 1GB to 2GB for comfort.
also CD burn speed varies with medium (cd-speed eg. 24x, 52x, 40x etc. note-CD-RWs may burn at as low as 4x), burner (drive-speed) & presence/absence of "UltraBuffer" technology.

You should be able to use a CD burner with just about any amount of memory. Just don't do anything else while you're burning.
I think hard drive space would be more imporant. You ought to have at least 700MB free.

my computer right click properties
cd burner does consume a lot.. just dont play games or do anything while burning

right click on your computer icon, select property and u will find the memory (RAM) or just go to system information.
