Because during all immigration in this country for generations, the immigrants assimilated into society. They WANTED to be AMERICANS. They learned ENGLISH, went to school, changed some dress, behavior and other things from their native countries. Now they come here, don't bother with English, don't assimilate, live in their own communities, are not the least patriotic, keep most of their original cultures act and dress and behave the same as they did in wherever they came from, don't often get educated and get decent jobs and don't give a rats about the USA except what they can take from it and don't give as much back. They spend more time and effort trying to be different than trying to be Americans. Its sad. Immigrants used to be proud to be here. They could not wait to be called an American and look like one and act like one. Now even blacks (born in this country) who have hardly seen Africa on a map let alone have been there or come from there have to be called African-Americans. How stupid is that? You think you would be born in say England and have family that came from Norway and be called Norway Englanders or something? lol It's all been toooooo much diversity. We have lost all of of unity as a nation. Too many factions here. Too many special interest groups. Use to be one nation. No longer. It's a mess.

By the way both of my parents came here from other countries. Ireland and Italy. Could not wait to be Americans, go to school, work their asses off, vote, pay taxes, my Dad volunteered for the Army during WWII, my mother learned English, they loved American clothes and music and anyting American and the American dream and lifestyle and were so proud and happy to be a part of American society. They repsected the flag, the constitution, the government and what our nation stood for. My Dad even at age 69 would always tear up during The Star Bangled Banner or the Pledge of Allegiance. Now immigrants spit on the flag and burn in it the streets.

They made sure they worked any kind of jobs and didn't sit around collecting welfare or getting any kind of free loans, food, medical care or anything from the government. They actually made sacrifices for the joy and privilege of being here! They made sure their kids did the same. Went to school and worked and were happy, gratefull for that and proud!

What happened to all of that?

The religious right (ironically named since they almost always get everything wrong, especially religion) took over and lost their minds with that much power.

It is still a beautiful country...it's just being run by a greedy, self-righteous idiot right now. Thank goodness this is his last term.
