Music has always been a huge part of my life. It makes me happy when I'm sad, relaxed when I'm tense, and sometimes just allows me to get away when I don't know how I'm feeling. I also think everyone should have that "special song". I've been thinking and I came up with the idea of using a name that is also the name of a song (i.e. Mandy by Barry Manilow--I don't like the name Mandy, but you get the idea). I think that way my child will have that "special song" from the day they are born. What do you think? Is it weird or is it a nice idea? Thanks so much.

My sister loves the song Amanda so she named her daughter that. As long as the name is not too strange go for it.

My friend's husband is in a band and music is a big part of their lives as well. When they had their daughter they named her "Harmony." Or what about "Melody." Maybe you should try thinking of a name like this that can mean music instead of trying to think of a song title!

Just a suggestion!
Good Luck!

How obvious is the name in relation to the song? I mean is it common enough that your child will have a great story of how she got her name? Or is it a type of song that she'll get teased about? I'd take that into consideration. If it's a bit out there, you could use it as a middle name.

I think that's a really cute idea! It's good for baby's names to have a meaning behind them instead of just picking a random name. It's nice that you are going to put a lot of thought into the name.

It's a nice idea. Don't count on your daughter loving the song. Kids are tricky like that.

My daughter's name is Joanna, which actually (coincidentally) is a Kool & The Gang song. She thinks that is cool.

Instead of song title, a plant name is also nice. (Tansy, Rose, Lily . . .) because she can have a garden or themed china, etc.

I think it's a great idea! You could name her whatever you want. Do you have a certain genre of music you prefer? You could look into that. Also are you having a boy or girl? Or just trying? You will figure it out. God has a hand in helping you in this way! Good Luck!!

My name is Mandy, and I have always wanted to change my name is is short for Amanda! It was so common there were like 15 girls that I graduated with that were named Amanda and they all go by Mandy. But if you like it go for it. I prefer unusal names. My daughters name is going to be Zibby Isabella.

I think it's a neat idea. There's a great song by Jimmy Buffett called Delaney Talks to Statues that he wrote about his daughter, and my husband and I seriously considered naming our daughter Delaney just because of the song.

I think it is a really cute idea. Just dont name the baby anything too embarassing like Billie Jean, or something. Good luck with the search!
