Eventually they have to learn the language of the club they play for. It is expected and wise. But believe it or not, soccer is such a universal game that often gestures and looks come across exactly the same way. If you watch players off the ball in matches they are always pointing, gesturing or moving around. The more you play together the less players need to use actual words to work together. I can remember playing in Germany when I was about 12 (I'm english). During the match it was not evident that 4 of the 22 players on the pitch weren't German nor could speak German. Football is football, all over the world.

Except the US.

Although he's not my favorite player, I'd liken Edgar Davids to a Badger or Wolverine. He's one of the fiercest players in the world and has no regard for the player that he's tackling. others include Peter Crouch = "Special Needs" Giraffe Essien = Pit Bull Rooney = Grizzly Bear

They learn the most useful words of the club they're playing for, and most of the time they don't need to because they understand signs with their arms or just know what kind of think the other player needs/wants to make a move.

They learn the language of the country they are in, it's remarkably easy to pick up a new language when you are actually living in a new country.
