i just buy a pack. i used to break out a lot (because of stress) so i bought something that was a cheaper version of proactiv, but quite effective. it's called "acne-free" and it's sold in CVS. it's a pack -- it includes, a facial wash, a toner, and a medication (in the form of a lotion). also later on, they came up with a separate pack which include 2 things -- a moisturizer and i forgot what the other one was called, but these 2 lotions help decrease the appearance of scars.
it was quite effective. i've been using it for 3 years already. and i've never bought anything else anymore. before, i bought almost every kind of facial wash -- but could not find any that would suit my skin type. because of the stress in school, i started breaking out, and my mom bought this stuff for me. it took me a while to see results, i even started doubting it, but once my skin stabilized, i didn't get any pimple or zit anymore.
once in a while, my toner is empty so i stop using it -- it doesn't affect anything. i'll just start using it again when i open my next pack. this is not the type that you have to continuously use it otherwise you will break out again -- you could take a break from it for a day or 2, what's important is that you use this as a long term therapy.
i think what's important is to stick with 1 type of product. hope this helps.

Here is what as worked for me: I use Cetaphil face wash. It's just an extremely mild soap that isn't overdrying or irritating. My dermatologist told me about it. Once a week, I use The Body Shop's "Tea Oil Scrub" to exfoilate. I tried everything before: Proactive, Neutrogena, noxema, etc. etc.
Also, if you wear makeup I would try using the Netrogena - Clear skin brand. It is lighter and less irriating than other makeups. Good luck. I know what you are going through.

Neutrogena facewash, accompanied with the help of Neutrogena alcohol loose toner, then Neutrogena face moisturizer / additionally they make facewash and toners with salicylic acid, large to apply some situations a week for pimples yet will be too drying at the same time as used on a daily basis.

Definitely proactiv. I used to have horrible acne on my forehead and nose. Using Proactiv consistently definitely helps. Also finding a good facial mask really helps to get rid of overnight zits. Try Neutrogena's mask.

first off if you use provactive your gunna be in trouble. It only works on a certain type of skin. On my type which is normal ( not oily or dry) it gives you a horrible rash on your face that burns like hell. nutrogena is good though. However i prefer Clean and Clear, there warming blackhead scrub is amazing, and so are there regular face washes.

I have used proavtive for about three months now, i love it. But you cant skip a day or you will break out if you are prone to zits and all. It reallly does work. Deffinatly worth the money!!

I use the St. Ives tea tree face scrub and follow it up by using their non-medicated peach scrub. The medicated burns and I think it smells funky. Anyway, I've never had a problem with acne, but as far as just regular everyday use, this stuff works well.

I use Cetaphil cleanser sometimes, and other times I use Dove Deep Moisture. Well, I don't really get zits because my face is so dry, but that's what I use!
