chrysler , general motors and ford have all commited billions of dollars to building plants to produce cars in china as our american auto workers lose jobs to mexico and now china .
THESE where the jobs america relied on to buy homes and send thier kids to college , and now they are quickly disappering .
All this free trade and international investment and plant relocation is driving americans into the poor house .

I'm from the motor city, and let me tell you, it's pretty funny to have Toyota move in to Michigan, and American car companies move out!

It's typical. However, we have Honda and Toyota plants right here in Ohio, Kentucky, and Michigan. Those are the two highest rated vehicles on the road. Ford, Chrysler, and GM generally get some of the lowest ratings. So that just goes to show you that American auto manufacturers are not making a very good car while the American craftsmanship is still great. Outsourcing is horrible, don't get me wrong. I think it would be a blessing if American cars were made in America, but as long as companies are going to try and save money, outsourcing will be the norm.

I couldnt agree with you more. As a Canadian, we were very concerned with the Canada - US Free Trade Agreement back in 1988, yet it hardly made the news in the US. We were scared of losing good paying jobs to the US, and that is exactly what happend, particulary in manufacturing. You guys didnt get excited til the North American Free Trade Agreement with the US, Canada and Mexico.
But owners have to look at the bottom line. Unskilled manufacturing jobs in North America in a union shop get very good pay, much more than workers in non-union places. These high priced union contracts have to take some of the responsibiltiy of losing all these jobs to cheap foreign workers.

I's a matter of SURVIVAL The UAW virtually drove them out of business in America, even before the "help" of OSHA, EPA, Ralph Nader, and all you "Americans" who would rather buy a car built in one of the countries that tried to destroy us.
