Since its a goldfish tank he should be fine..

did you float/acclimiate him properly?

goldfish enjoy the colder water..so i know temp isnt a problem. unless you are heating the water..and he doesnt like it...

maybe take him back to the store and trade him for another..he could be sick

What size tank? Fancy goldfish need 10 gallons PER baby/juvenile fish. Adults will need atleast 50 gallons PER fish. The fishs problem sounds like its swim bladder related, try to get him to eat a shelled green pea either thawed from frozen or fresh. Also i would do a partial waterchange because i have this feeling that you are massively overstocked.

the colour black is genetically risky in Goldfish. it is common for Black Moors to circulate bronze, extremely as they age. If he's new and youthful, the colour substitute might desire to be right down to stress, make useful he's in a intense high quality huge over-filtered and cycled tank!

Check the temperature in your tank. A fish can become lethargic if the water is too cold.
