Hey my laptop is acting funny. I turned it on today and it just goes straight to a Boot Menu. I tried turning off the computer, ESC key all that stuff and it keeps going back to that menu. Is my laptop totally screwed? Did I just lose everything that was on my drive? Is there a way to fix it so it doesnt go to that menu when I turn on the laptop? This has happened once before but I turned off my laptop and turned it on again and worked fine. Now it always goes to the menu. PLEASE HELP!!

Ok, I have no boot disk in the drive. Nothing. The screen is grey and in the middle is a little blue box, at the top it says Boot Device and there are little options that say

Hard Disk C
CD-ROM/DVD
Diskette A
PXE LAN

Okay..if your computer is offering a start up menu that offers you the ability to start in safe mode, choose that.. use your up and down arrows to access this.. once you open in safe mode, you can then run a scan disk or look for what programs are giving you a hard time. Follow the instructions or options offered on that start up page..it is easier than you think.

Do you have a boot disk or an OS disk in the drive?

What boot screen are you seeing? More info is needed.

*I would try putting the OS cd in the CD Drive and booting from that. It is possible that your OS has become corrupt or needs to be repaired.
