most friendships involving a boy and a girl has nothing to do with sex. it's a friendship (i.e. platonic).
if you both decide to include sex in the friendship then that's a diff kettle of fish. that is between the two of you and is an atypical friendship (the friends with benefits).
while both are "normal", the platonic friendship is more common.
