The answer to that is no..We all love our country even though it is in turmoil at this time. But patriotic is also showing you care for those that are serving our country. But in the end no one is the better just more scares to show.

Not necessarily. There are many ways to serve your country beyond military service, and some people can't join the military for various reasons.
However, if two people were both capable of serving, and one did and the other didn't, I would have a higher opinion of the one who served, all other things being equal. That doesn't mean I would disrespect the non-veteran or see him as non-patriotic, only that I would have special respect for the veteran.
Serving your country is hard and involves a lot of sacrifice. But it's something that has to be done. Those who answer the call deserve a little special gratitude from others, but no one should be disparaged for not having served. Especially if there were valid reasons preventing them from doing so.

No serving in the military doesn't make you more of a patriot. There are thousands of people in this country that aren't in the military that are very patriotic. A patriot is someone who loves their country and supports it's authority and interests. If EVERY patriotic person served in the military who would continue doing the things in this country that needed to be done like patrolling the streets, all the way down to flipping burgers, while you communists that have no respect for your country were out protesting anything and everything, that you don't agree with.

IN our country it is some times questioned as to how you have served your country .
THOSE who have served do recieve special treatment at the un-employment office and consideration in hiring practices .
those who have not are regarded by some as less patriotic then others but this is wrong.
I do believe in defending america and would be at the borders should any threat come to america . Un less mexico openly and hostly invades and is not invited by business men looking to make a buck off them into america I doubt it will be nessacary in my life time .
NOT many invaders with ships to bring troops here .
AS far as terrorists go cutting of the money and supplies and killing the leaders is a job for small units and local governments .
Pressure needs to be applied to such countrys to have them turn over the terroists .HOW to pressure them is somewhat of a difficult situation.
GREATER minds then mine i am sure can find a solution.
BUT i would suggest , an america that has a standard of living everyone wanted , to be a start .ALL people housed and all people cared for .
BUT i feel , it , is , to important to have people , to look down on , and say if you do not do as i say then that will be you .FOR america to address the problems it created we must face some simple truths that some people take advantage of others to make a better living and nothing can be done except to raise taxes and return the excess proffiteering to the people ..OH yeah military service .NOT in the least .The military will attract people the same why business does , provide money and a future career .

I think people who have served and worked that hard and laid their life on the line have a sense of entitlement, and probably rightly so.
I mean, I am a pacifist and I would never serve and I would have serious issues with wars "operations" i didn't agree with. But people who do serve, even if it is just to better their college/career options have gone above and beyond what I have done for this country (short of voting).
That said, a true patriot would always criticize and always question their own country, because they love it enough to want it to be the best that it can be. If the country were full of flag-waving GW lap-dogs, the only things that would get changed would be things in favor of the people who could afford it. (if that makes sense)
So when vets, yell at me for criticizing, I lose a lot of respect for them, disagree fine. But "i served, i saw men die, etc." is not a correct answer to a rational debate./criticism/question.
military alone, is not what makes this country great, democracy does.
Don't listen to them, display the flag how you want, we're all for spreading democracy right?

Not always but I think Military service an excellent way of showing patriotism. Displaying the flag upside down is extremely disrespectful and I think you should change your avatar. Don't you know that the people fighting and dying under that flag are the ones who gave you the freedom to disrespect it? Talk about biting the hand that feeds you. What a moron.

Yes and no.... it is the ultimate sacrifice for the love of this great nation, but there are some people who just aren't cut out for the military, and they are not less patriotic for aknowledging that...... the military needs able people more than they need people who serve just because of how it makes them feel as Americans..... God Bless America!
I already answred your other question, but i'm gonna repeat myself...... your flag being upside down is very offensive and disrespectful for such a great nation with great values and history..... i don't agree with Bush very much, but that doesn't mean i'm going to disrespect my country as a whole....

I think serving should be mandatory for at least two years. Germany and Israel along with many European countries do it. I think it would make everyone a little more patriotic. But just because you don't serve doesn't mean you aren't proud of your country.

You are just hopeless aren't you .pandering to all the people that say they hate the USA and all we stand for, playing games with a flag you never fought under or for..Its because of the military protecting your cowardly behind that you can say the things you say.Try doing that in the real world around a bunch of veterans and it wouldn't fly too well.
If you want to protest the war then place Bush on your flag pole and fly him upside down.Makes more sense.
I support the military,I am liberal and do not support the war.But I do support my country and respect her banners.

Display the American Flag properly, moron.
I can tell by your other question regarding whether or not anyone is offended by the way you display your flag that you are simply trying to "taunt" and mock true patriots who feel it's an insult to America to display the flag anyway but the proper way...which makes you even more of a MORON than I first thought.
