Listening to the song "One" (newer version with Mary J. Blige) I cried listening to the lyrics. I was thinking about my EX and and I feel like he could sing it to me, word by word.
What do you think the lyrics mean?
I just want your opinion and explanation on the song. Please!

I think it's about, how as humans, we have a duty to help our fellow man, instead of judge, persecute, ignore, etc.

Well, I'm a huge U2 fan and like a lot of U2 songs "One" has a lot of different interpretations. Some people thought it was a song about a gay son trying to tell his father he has AIDS and to except him, but U2's real meaning of the song was about breaking up in a relationship where you are still in love but it just isn't working, that's how I always interpreted it. You can read more about it here http://www.u2star.com/lyrics/ The song was original on U2's album Achtung Baby which was released in 1991, but U2's version with Mary J Blige is on Mary J's new CD. Hope this helps.

I think its about the point in a relationship where you admit that although you love each other very much, you have grown apart.
It is time to move on,without any of the hatred and blame that can so often be a part of a breakup.

the song was written to say how even though each of the band members has their own personallity, when they are playing, they are "one" entity.
