How can you people still support this criminal. Seriously, The Supreme Court finds him in violation of the Geneva Conventions and the war crimes law, so what does this crook do? He moves to amend the laws so he can keep breaking them!

Brian, Brian. The way you worded the first part of your question, it seems like you did it in angry haste. I have never heard of him "admendment" law. You should get your facts straight so you can ask a question in an informed and educated way. I'll try one of your questions: The supreme court said the Gitmo guys were to be considered war prioners. We were holding them as military combatants since really no definition fit the situation. The president has gone to Congress to have them draw up legislation to deal with these war crimnals in a fair way through Military Trbunals. Ask youself, if the Gitmo guys were not fighting for a signatory country of the Geneva Convention, how could the USA be in violation of the Geneva convention ? Wouldn't it seem logical that the "country" we were fighting would demand compliance w/ the Convention. I suppose we were fighting the ACLU.
You should also read the constitution and see that no president can amend a law. Only Congress can. Do you mean he writes an "understanding" when he signs the law he gives his interpretaion of the details ? I suppose that it is actually a good idea since there gray areas in any law (intentional or not) that can be rectified only through a court. Knowing that it was interpreted in a certain way would lead to better understanding of the law. Have you heard of the quandry (What did our founding fathers mean by this part of the Constituion ? Would have been nice if they had little "Post Its")
Anyway read over your questions so you don't embarass yourself.

Sorry The account says that congress would pass this legislation that means that Democrates would vote for it too and only because the Geneva Conventions are too broad.

"Attorney General Alberto Gonzales told a Senate Committee last week the language of the Geneva Conventions was too vague and needed to be better defined by Congress.

Gonzales said Congress should provide a list of offenses that would constitute crimes under the Geneva Conventions' requirement for humane treatment of prisoners. He said that would clarify rules for U.S. interrogators, who would be subject to felony charges for violations.

The amendments, which have not been released, are part of broader proposed legislation on military courts that is still under discussion, but key officials have already embraced their substance, the Post said.

This is just more liberal bashing of Bush because they are too ashamed to admit that this war is as much theirs as his. Note the approval to go to war was overwhelmingly passed by congress. Go live in Afghanistan or Iraq why don't you
