'Share' a directory on your windows machine and browse the network from your MAC. caveats: machines must 'see' each other via the lan (which by definition can't be done until one is offering a share). Also, make sure the file is saved in a format that the other can read. Finally, if your LAN has a gateway to the I-net, you would prefer to share via a non routable protocol, or just turn off the share when not in use.

I think a USB memory drive could be used effectively here as well, provided the files are in readable formats as I mentioned above. This is what I do to get files from my laptop to my desktop - but, they are both windows based so i don't have to deal with the translation issue.

If both machines can access the internet you could also use a service such as Yahoo's Briefcase at briefcase.yahoo.com to upload files from one machine and then download to the other.

Also maybe a memory stick?

One of the biggest reasons it doesn't work is the Windows machine has a firewall turned on, either turn it off or open ports 138 and 139

You should be able to access the windows machine from the mac, and get the files that way.
