Do not pierce your belly button by yourself .. there is a very high risk of infection .. and the belly button is one of the most critical piercings .. it takes 6 months to a whole year to heal.

If you don't have the $$ to do it, then you need to wait .. You're only going to have problems if you try to do it yourself .. You need sterile needles, a sterile piece of jewelry, and somebody who knows what the hell they're doing.

The truth about piercings is they aren't just a sewing needle or a safety pin they put through you. A piercing needle is hollow, and it carves out the skin to create a hole for the jewelry to go through. A belly button needs a lot of care and attention .. and until it's healed, jewelry can not be changed, otherwise you will get what looks like a wart on the pierced site because your body is rejecting the foreign object.

I have seen so many people come into our tattoo shop wanting us to fix their home-done piercing ... and the only way to fix it is to take it out, let it heal, then get it done professionally again.

Wait until you can afford it .. and if you're not 18 yet, wait until you can legally do it. Be mature about it .. don't be dumb, and don't rush into things like that...you'll only encounter problems in the long run

Why don't you save $10 per week for 5 or 6 weeks .. or $5 per week for 10 weeks... If you really want it done that bad, you can wait a bit longer and have it done right .. a professional will put the piercing through so quickly, you blink and miss it . It's so fast, and so easy..just be patient

i pierced my own belly button with a sterilized sewing needle. It took about 30 minutes to slowly break through. I just pushed the needle a little bit by bit. basically till it hurt then relaxed then pushed again. getting your button pierced is very sore for quite a while whether you pay someone to gab the thing through or do it yourself. it was sore too much to enjoy showing it off so I took it out after a month. i pierced my ears myself the same way and have had no problems with that. I have more trouble with the holes that were pierced at the store than the ones I did myself...

Nope. I pierced my own ears when I was a kid. That was fine, ice cubes for freezing and a sterilised needle.
BUT your belly button will bleed and bleed. Its much more painfull, you're going through a much thicker bit of flesh. And it can go septic VERY easily.
My advice is don't do it yourself, don't have a girlfriend do it either. Be patient, wait until you have saved the money.

DON'T DO IT!!! Omg. You can not pierce your belly button yourself. Even getting it professionally done is dangerous. Because of your umbilical cord, all of your organs are attached to your belly button. If you were to piece even slightly off, you could get an infection that could spread all through out your body. It is not worth it. One of my sister's friends got her's done professionally and still her entire right side of her body got purple. She had started bleeding internally because of the piercing. Do not do it yourself!

You're better off waiting till you can afford it professionally because the risk of infection and the doctor bills that come from that kind of thing will out weigh the cost of it professionally if you do it yourself.

Don't pierce it yourself...it is too easy to get an infection...and I don't think you will get a good result...

I have mine pierced..but did it professionally...I like it..and yes there was some pain involved..not really bad, but a pretty good pinch.

I didn't. But DON'T! You can get infections from doing it yourself save your money and soon you will have enough to get it done go to a place that has sanitary tools. You don't want to get someone else infection because you did not use sanitary tools. Good Luck!

i tried to about 6 years ago,it was really hard, literally I wasn't strong enough to push the pin through... needless to say it was a very stupid idea, why don't you just wait and save up some money and get it done proffessioally and safely
