This is something I know a great deal about. I am a former USAF Major. It is highly unlikely a draft will occur. The US Army and Marines are the main two branches of the service fighting overseas are short military personal. Not the newbies, but the men with knowledge and experience. They have a serious retention problem.
However if a draft does occur those who are openly gay will not be drafted, it would be against current policy to enlist them. They would have to over turn the don't ask dont tell policy to draft them.
However please note this. If a soldier currently serving in the gulf comes out. He is not released from service at that time. He must continue to service his tour of duty. Once upon completion and his return to the states then he is discharged. This has happened to several young men. They can not use the policy to get out of serving once they have been deployed. Yes this is wrong and hypocritical.

I've thought about that. No they wouldn't have to go fight in a war if they don't want to go because of "don't ask, don't tell". You just have to say you are gay/lesbian or bisexual and then you cannot be drafted into the army. They might just start rethinking the reasons why they have "don't ask, don't tell" and make a new "fair" rule so they could draft you, but it would come up.

they will never have a draft, my husband is in the Air Force and there trying there best to kick people out for anything they do bad because they have to many enlistee's, and the ones that switch over the army are offered CRAZY amounts of money, and if they did except gay people in the military then wouldn't you have to have separate bathrooms for them so that straight people wouldn't be uncomfortable? and i think a lot less straight people would join as well

Any male is eligible to be drafted. I'm sure there will be quite a few guys (both homo and straight) who will announce that they are homo in an attempt to get dismissed from the military. The homos who want to fight will probably keep quiet, as the "don't ask, don't tell" policy requires.
If you think that there currently are no homos in the military, you are extremely wrong.

Gays have always been exempt from serving in the armed forces in the US. However I suspect if the draft is instituted again it will miraculously coincide with the end of "don't ask don't tell".

When I was you age, I was gay in a country where being gay was illegal. I was forced through conscription to perform military service. The army never knew I was gay, and I do not liuke the army, BUT believe me the soldiers were hot. LOL.

I don't see why anyone would be kicked out of the military for being gay these days. That's why they say don't ask don't tell. They don't want to know your gay; because they don't want the homophobic's to have a cow. If girls can fight then why can't guys who want to be girls fight? Ha Ha Ha

Well there are several studies that indicate homosexual men have higher levels of testosterone so we should be quite good at playing with soldiers, I mean playing at being soldiers. LOL
