Use a different screen saver. Sounds like this one has a problem with your video driver.

Since this is your first computer, you are going to need more guidance that is really possible online. You would benefit from taking a computer class.
But in the meantime, take it back where you bought it and let them both figure out the problem and fix it.
One big warning for now and into the future, make sure you have both anti-virus software AND anti-spyware software on your computer, otherwise your computer WILL (no maybes about it) get infected with a bunch of crud that will make it not work well, and maybe even destroy your files. FREE anti-spy programs are out there, 2 of the best (and I run both) are adaware, and spybot (make sure you get 'adaware" and not something that looks like the same word). A good free anti-virus program is Avast.
Also many, many sites popular with young people seem to be more inclined to dump the bugs on your system. I have a lot more problems with my teens' systems than mine.
Good rules to live by.
1. Never open an email you know wasn't sent to you by someone you know or a business you ASKED to send you stuff.
2. Never click on a link within an email from someone you don't know, or open an attachment under the same circumstances.
3. Be ware of emails that look like they come from real businesses, like paypal or your bank, that claim your account has been compromised and you must click the link, and give them all your personal info to fix it. They are ALL scams. Call your bank directly (don't use any links in the email) and ask if there is a problem
4. If you're going to try to download free programs or music, videos, etc. off the net, fully expect both to come loaded with viruses. Things like free smilies for IM always come with spyware. Using services like Kazaa or Limewire to get free music is also becoming very hazzardous. A good virus scanner will get most, but still you add extra risk.
5. That screensaver, unless it came with your pc may well be the problem (see the spyware and bugs issues mentioned above). Turn it OFF and use a default windows screensaver.
6. It is worth considering using Firefox instead of Internet Explorer as your browser because there are fewer bugs that are transmitted via that program. It is FREE and can be gotten from Mozilla.com.
Good luck.
You can change or remove the screensaver by going to your start menu, then control panel, then click on display and look for the screensaver tab.

Are u using autohide option. If so go to control panal > Taskbar and start menu. Disselect "Auto hide the taskbar". Or there may be some problem with screensaver so use other screensaver or scan the computer if there is virus. If all the method doesnt work reinstall windows . At last if the problem is still there you'd better call a technician

This can be pretty common -- but you shouldn't have to press crtl+alt+delete it should turn on in a couple seconds.
Run your virus software. Download and run the free spyware softwares (AdAware: http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-8022_4-10045910.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5, Spybot: http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10401314.html?tag=lst-0-1, and Edwido: http://www.ewido.net/en/download/ all work very well). If you don't have anti-virus software try AVG free virus software: http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2).
After you're sure you're computer is clean, go to Start => Programs => Accessories=> System Tools and do a Disk Cleanup, you can use Disk Defragmenter too to help pick up the speed. The defrag does take a very long time to run -- so I'd start it right before you go to bed.
Hope this helps :o)

Try changing your screen saver to something more simple. If you downloaded it or something it may have a flaw in it. Go to your start menu and then to Control Panel. Click Appearance and themes and change your screen saver to something more simple. Also turn off your monitor if you wont be using your computer for awhille. It saves you from having to restart the whole computer but is good for the screen.

Most likely, your computer and / or operating system is set to go into 'suspend' mode in a very short period of time. Most recent versions of windows this time can be increased (or, in my case, turned off so it never 'suspends') via control panel / power settings. Hope this helps!
