I get so moody and emotional the week before my period. I feel like a different person and like i don't have control of myself. Is there something I can do for this on my own or do I need my doctor's help?

Take extra dosage of Calcium. I always make sure my wife and daughter have plenty around!!! Don't use Tums etc.,,,it's not very absorbable. Go to a heath or drug store and get the more expensive, absorbable brands. It really works, good luck.

you could try kava kava.

you could try black cohosh maybe, although that's more often used for cramping.

fish oil or other omege 3 supplements can help even out moods, although you have to take a fair amount of it to do much good (follow package instructions.)

i've found that regular yoga practice helps alleviate PMS (for me, anyway) and has reduced that awful crampy part of my period to a matter of hours.

some people try birth control to regulate moods. the hormone jumps aren't usually as drastic on the pill.

and yeah, you might want to bring it up with your OB, unless you really trust your GP to be familiar enough with PMS remedies.

best of luck to you.

My doc put me on prozac for only 7 days a month during the PMS time because I wanted to kill my husband-not literally (well maybe) and because I was a nervous wreck. It helps, I'm fine the rest of the month.

two weeks before your period. make sure you are stress free..then diet has something to do with having pms too..watch what you eat.. eat lightly..fruits, veggies and fish would help. avoid soda..avoid salty food..then observe if you will still be having PMS
