I have my resume all together but I'm not exactly sure what to put on a cover letter. Also I have to email the cover letter, resume and references together but they are all saved individually. How do I email all 3 together?

Think of the Cover letter as a sales pitch for yourself. In the first paragraph tell them which job you're interested in (ie I heard that you're hiring to be X and I am interested in the position) bc a lot of times you'll have a person juggling different resumees for different jobs.

In the next paragraph tell them why you're a good match for the job. Try not to make this a rehash of the information on your resume.

In the last paragraph tell them how to get in contact with you and thank them for their time. Obviously spell check, edit and proof read the letter before you send it off.

As for the e-mail just about any program I've seen should let you attach multiple files to an e-mail. Look for a button that says attach files. Make sure you clearly label the different files (ie cover letter, resume, references, etc). You might also paste the text of the Cover Letter into the e-mail. Good luck.

A cover letter contains just enough information to get their attention and briefly (not a regurgitation of the resume) discuss your credentials.
i would attach each one separately in the same email, with a short message about what is enclosed, and a thank you for viewing them.

Reread the requirements for the job, and then mention relevant experiences and abilities that aren't in your resume, or are buried there.

Explain how you can help that particular organization. (Resumes are general -- cover letters, when done right, are specific to that position at that organization.)

To send, open each one, Select All, Copy/Paste.
