Oh.. you hit on a very very sore subject. I, to this day, refuse to go to my class reunions because of bad memories of high school and the way I was treated.. as trash. The popular people, who at that time I would loved to have had a smile from.... a hello from... are grown up now and are NOTHING. Two are dead from alcohol and the others are just plain NOTHING. I sent a letter to a classmate at one of the reunions and she read it.. It stated in essence that I will never forget the way I was ousted and picked on and never spoken to as(because) I was considered trash and look how things turned out.... ha! ha! ha!

the "popular" people right now are still as popular as ever, either in a sorority or fraternity, getting ready to graduate college, or some of them are married, basically the vast majority of them continued to live a successful, happy life. Of course, they've made their fair share of mistakes too, but for the most part their life is still good and headed in the right direction. As for the "unpopular" people it depends on how you look at them; the nerds and geeks (I'll admit I was a nerd), they're also very successful and getting ready to graduate college or the top or their class and will have a great life ahead of them. As for the goths and people who did drugs or refused to apply themselves and barely finished high school, they're either struggling through college or not in school at all; and those that chose that route are struggling to make something of themselves now or living a horrible life with no ambition...

I guess the lesson you can learn from cliches in high school is this, you shouldn't use it as a guide to determine your future or fate in life but in a sense it can be a forewarning too...yeah, in some cases the "popular" people wind up messing up their life and the "unpopular" people wind up becoming successful and proving to everybody that they've always had the potential to be great, and that still stands to point today. But you should also realize that today's generations are becoming smarter and more wily and are trying to prove themselves to their peers, friends, and family...

At my high school, the school was run by the popular crowd and they were mean as hell. I can tell you I wasn't well liked in my school because I wasn't in the popular crowd and certain people of that group saw me as a threat I think because they LOVED to spread nasty rumors about me, that still are with me to this day ( 8 years later) The unpopluar kids in my school seem to be better off than the popular ones, because for some reason the popular kids got nothing out of high school because most are either in jail or have vernial diseases (I am not kidding you, I work for the health department in my city)

Interesting question.

At my 10 year high school reunion, I was surprised to observe that the majority of people who showed were people who I generally liked (I was not BMOC), while only a few of the "cliquey" people showed, and everyone pretty much avoided them.
