Skipping your "period" week won't cause a decrease in pregnancy risk.
I am actually going to do that with my next pack for the same reason.
It is common, normal and ok to do.
When you have your last week, it isn't a "real" period. It is only caused by the pills. Its shedding of the uterus lining. Not ovulation. Birth control prevents ovulation. You just going to the next pack means you are continue to be placing hormons etc to prevent ovulation of the egg to the wall or ovulation at all.
Your doctor said it was ok and that is what matters. Professional know more than people on here who either not on birth control, don't have accurate information and misinformed assuming something when they never knew to begin with.
You are ok to have sex with out a condom. However, I do encourage condoms anyhow.

You're only skipping inactive pills and the period you have on the pill is not a real one anyway so skipping it does not alter the effectiveness of the pill.
As long as you are taking it properly (i.e. at about the same time every day) it's 99%+ effective.
You should be using condoms anyway, though, because the pill does not protect you from STDs.

Having sex without a condom can be dangerous these days. There are many more things to worry about then just pregnancy. However, skipping your period because you chose to take the next month's pills instead of your week off, doesn't make you more likely to get pregnant.

Yes, you are still protected, but skipping the non-active pills does not work for everyone. My boss at one time was going to Mexico and she was supposed to get her period so she went right to the next pack and she bled the whole 10 days she was down there. Just make sure that you have pads or tampons with you just in case.

I would have sex only if you are going to use protection.
Because you are skipping pills there is still that possibility of getting pregnant. Unless you are goin to skip the reminder pills and automatically keep taking the other pills? I'm not sure how that would work.

yes you will throw away your sugar pills (the last week of bc) and immediately start a new pack.
you will skip your period for that month, but may start earlier or have a heavier period the next month.
you definatley will NOT get pregnant, since you are keeping the steady stream of high level bc in your system.
have fun on vacation!

Yes, you're safe. Think of it like the week you are on your sugar pills is most close to being your "danger" week. And the first week of your actual pills. Any time not in that sugar pill week or the first week of pills, you are ok.
Remember, better safe than sorry is the best option.
