Need to know how big the engine is, how many people the boat holds and what type of boat it is?
My father's boat long and narrow with a 125 engine holding 3 adult males can go 65 miles per hour.

If the length is 4 times the width you got a pretty fast boat there. Don't forget the story of the man who holds the record on water, accomplished in a flat bottom. And don't every body look over at the manatee at once!

The speed of a boat is not dependant solely upon the hull, but on the propulsion system and the overall design of the boat.
A flat bottom boat may move fast with an inboard motor, but a V-Hull may actuall move quicker depending on the placement of the motors and the way in which the hull is forced through the water.

More info is needed - what kind of boat? Speed boat with a motor? Sail boat? Kayak? Depends on the type of motor, or the strength of the person paddling, or the strength of the wind and the current... too many variables.

Under minimum horsepower it can go its hull speed. This can be figured by taking the square root of the waterline, and expressing it as knots., not miles per hour.
A very narrow, long hull with flat aft surfaces will plane easily. Thus the speed is relevant to horsepower of the engine.
Planing exceeds hull speed.

as a rule narrow hulls move faster than a wide hull . The exception being vee hulls which rise out of the water and are not affected by drag. note however narrow long hulls are not very maneuverable
