In general, what is the attitude of British students towards classmates from abroad.
How friendly are UK students?

Thanks

Overall I would say most UK students are quite welcoming of foreign students. Quite a few of my friends at university are from abroad and I get on extremely well with them and find them really interesting people to talk to because they come from countries with different cultures and traditions.

There were quite a lot of foreign students when I was at uni.

My opinion of them varied.

I found that a lot of the Greek, and Spanish students were very loud in terms of talking to eachother - like the equivalent of me shouting (in a non-threatining way) at someone I'm talking to that is stood right next to me. Basically it seemed that they could not talk quietly.

But on the whole I found the foreign students were much the same as the UK students - most were nice, some were annoying, etc, etc...

In general students are a tolerant bunch the world over (unless you count intolerance of oppression) i think the only thing that ticks UK students off is if they are involved in group work with overseas students who do not have the language capacity to get a decent grade and the UK student is losing marks because of it. Nothing personal just nobody likes to lose marks because of someone Else's short comings. So if your English is good and you are a worker you will have absolutely no problems, 100% guarantee!

Bow down that was out of order! Americans are trying to stop such acts in the Middle East. I am Latin American and my bf is British. We get along great. When I went to school here in the states, we had students from the UK and they were nice people. Nasty people can be found anywhere not just one country. Bow down just proved that! Have a nice day.

I studied for my Masters Degree in England and I was always treated as the class oddity... the token yank... but it really wasn't all that bad.

A couple of my friends decided it was their God given mission to de-AmeriKanize me... and they did a good job of it. I learned to not say everything at the top of my lungs. I learned that some things really didn't NEED to be changed, because that's the way they had ALWAYS been done. I even developed a "Mid Atlantic" accident so I wouldn't sound so much like a bloody AmeriKan when I was in refined company.

I learned to eat (but not like) mushy peas. I enjoyed pub lunches and developed a taste for beef and kidney pie. I also learned that "British Cuisine" is an oxymoron.

BUT... I just never did get the hang of those bloody roundabouts and having to know what stop I was going too when I took a bus for the first time and wanted to buy a ticket REALLY irritated me.

They do not like Americans, and rightfully so. Could you like a culture that loves to rape, torture, and murder innocent Iraqis in the name of Jesus Christ for a Chimp President that was voted in by Nascar watching rednecks twice?

Ohhh, well if you are a Christian from the middle east you should be greeted warmly by the British. They are a very tolerant people. At least most of them are.

I would say that overall they have great respect for foreign students and go out of their way to make them feel at home in an unknown environment.
