I have seen this movie (Monte Cristo) in French language, only yesterday in TV. The writer involves Napolean in the story. That's why I like to know whether the story is true or fiction or based on any true incidents.

The story is fictional set against the backdrop of true events. Nothing about the Count himself or the treasure was real. Just the little bits about Napolean were. Which movie did you see? THere are several. I think the best is the one with Jim Caviezal as teh Count which came out a few years ago although they took some huge liberties from the original book. THe book is a great story as well though it is quite long.

The book, The Count of Monte Cristo, is in fact fiction. While the movie strays from the book, it is still fiction. It is set druing an era in history and the historical influence is there, but it is still fiction... It's actually considered historical fiction!
