Look at yourself from the turtle's eyes- what else in its native habitat swoops down, grabs it, and lifts it high off the ground? Food? A potential mate? A nice hidy space or sunny basking spot?

The closest thing they know about are birds of prey- as far as your turtle was concerned, it was attacked.

Don't take it personally. Turtles can so a certain amount of awareness of their owners and even a form of affection, but they are not naturally social animals.

She probably would appreciate a more secure environment since she can't have a 'real' life...I mean poor baby, how many turtles have to struggle with dust bunnies in nature while stuck under a couch. Give her a home that keep her moderately happy and she can't wander away from. Death from dust bunnies wouldn't be pretty.

i guess she is trying to tell you something. the blink maybe a sign that she is glad you gave her opportunity to wander around. or better yet, the bite is the sign that she is punishing you for losing her. but i know for sure with the blink, that doesn't mean she hates you. blink is a sign of "naughtiness", she is up to no good. so better watch out, she will come up with something to pay you back for what you have done. :)

Maybe it means she lost a contact lens. Turtles have the intelligence of a breath mint so don't bet on her liking you or not.

She dose not hate you she just got scared of you and defended herself. That is what my rabbit Max does.Just spend some time with your turtle, and she will love you again!! Good Luck and be gentle and buy her a treat and give her one if she is good!!!

no that doesnt mean that she hates you.. it may take a few days for her to get used to you again. i had a turtle that i found and kept for three years. he got lost and i found him after a month and he didnt remember me or my sisters. she might have bitten you to get your attention and see if you remember her. hope this works out for you!!!!!!!!!

My tort blinks all the time. I don't know if it means anything. But if you nod at them repeatdly, they nod back. It seems to be a form of communication. Hahaha

She's just scared, and it may be hard at this point, but you should try and get her used to you again. Maybe you should have him/her get checked, if it was lost outside.

If you feed her at all then she probably does not hate you. Plus you might have smelt like it's favorite food and it wanted to see.
