I have little scabs of skin on my scalp that itch, but I don't have flakes so I am not sure if I have dandruff. What could this be?

lately have you been putting chemicals in your hair that are not made for hair.this can come from putting stuff like hand soap,or leaving shampoo in and not rinsing it out,or bar soap.it happened to my friend it started out like yours but then they loosened from her scalp and little patches would come out when she would comb her hair.

Do you know what psoriasis is? You might have it. My brother has psoriasis ( I don't) but when I think I'm getting dandruff (And I get the itchy scalp too) I use Selsun Blue. You use it at least 2 times a week, but the first time you'll notice it gets better.

yeah could be psoriasis but I wouldn't rule out dandruff. What helps me is more frequent washes and I did Q-tip in rosemary oil and go through those areas on my scalp that feel scaby. When you wash, wash several times to loosen the scabs, comb out dry and then apply the rosemary oil.. tea trea oil and even listerine is good to use to.

I am not a dermatologist, but I have a similar problem. It may be that your scalp is "inflamed." You may need to talk to a dermatologist or your doctor. He/she can recommend a shampoo that won't irritate your scalp and help to heal the scabs.

Good luck.

I have pieces of skin that I can peel off my scalp. It is not dandruff either. I was told it was clogged sweat glands at the base of my head.

well i had ur same problem. if u use a hair brush with out a rubber base and brisels with no balled tips that could be it. the brisels could be scratching ur sclap. it could be build up from left over sampoo on ur scalp. thats what it was for me. if u scratch ur scalp with ur nails when u wash ur hair that could be it. when u wash ur hair make sure u use the tips of ur fingers....not ur nails. well hope this helps. if u follow these directions ur case should go away. GOOD LUCK!!!!!

i have the same problem. you have dandruff. you may not have flakes, but you have sensative skin on your scalp.
do you scratch them?
i do the same thing. i know i dont have lice. and i know that its just my scalp. its really really sensative.
i dont know what to do to make it heal. i hate going to the salon to get a hiar cut becus they notice it.
what shampoo do you use? i use head and shoulders. it controls my dandruff and flakes. but i still have the problem. try using selsen blue.
just try not to scratch your scalp anymore.

this could be the beginning of psoriosis! i have it! its because your body makes to many skin cells and so it deposits them in various places on your body in the form of big scabs that can be mistaken for dandruff when they shed! it is genetic in my family but ive known friends that get it without any of their family having it! its nothing to worrie about! if u go to the drs they can give you some shampoo stuff to treat it
