Well, I use to do a lot of rehabilitation of wild animals. They were never quite "pets" because the idea was to release them, but some hung around longer than others, and some never did take the hint that their welcome had long since been used up! The baby racoon was the worst. She stole things and fought with my dogs. I was terrified she would have babies and I would be stuck with them, too! I had some squirrels that would hide their treasures all over my house, and those little guys can climb straight up paneling! The baby bats were strange. I wanted to make sure they could fly before turning them loose, and, well, I needed a bigger house! My dog was very glad the possoms grew up. For several weeks she looked like she had strange grey growths on her back!!

Actual PETS I've had include assorted snakes, geckos, water dragons, turtles, dogs, cats, ferrets, rats, trantulas, and several scorpions.

The scorpions freaked people out, but were fairly harmless. They actually had personalities, too. Some were very friendly, some were not.

The pets that I had that got the weirdest reaction, though, were my Chinese Crested dogs. I had several before they came out in movies, and people would always be very curious about them. I have been given more "treatment options" for mange than I can remember! By the way, yes, I DO think they are kinda homely, my first one was named Igor, but once they worm their way into your heart, you won't be able to get them out!!

I had a pet rock growing up but I think the strangest I've seen was a stinging eel... go figure.

Not really strange, but the best ever: read on:

Jack.

Jack was my best friend when I was a lad,
The most wonderful pal that a boy ever had.
He never could speak, but he knew what I said,
He believed every word and was easily lead.

I first met young Jack, when he was quite small,
He was black, short-legged and not very tall,
His home it was dirty and dark as the night,
The first time I saw him, I really took fright.

He made a strange sound, when I gave him some bread,
It caused him to choke, and I thought he was dead,
But he quickly recovered and became quite strong,
So I carried him home, not knowing ‘twas wrong.

He slept in our shed, not allowed in our home,
Through the fields we would wander and mountains we’d roam,
‘Till the day I was told, ‘twas against the law,
To steal from a nest, a fledgling Jackdaw.

My little brother had a pet playstation controller at one point. He'd drag it around the house by the cord before attempting to play fetch with it. Very cute, but very strange.

I have a pet peeve. Is that strange? I take good care of it! I feed it every day, take it for walks and taught it to attack on command!
