The US will never overcome the challanges that we face if we do not learn to work together as fellow citizens of the United States and not as idealogues of the Democrats and Republicans. The debates are fun, but the bottom line is that we have to work together.

Working together means putting aside ones personal needs,likes and dislikes.That is an unselfish way for the better meant of all but it will never happen.People do not wish to give up their own needs or wants. We are selfish self centered lot .......I am one of them.But we must have a system of checks and balances.....Perhaps equal number of each party ,so no one has a majority,then vote as the people want,not what your party says,or as the lobbyist pays you to vote

That's true, because sometimes laws for example are blocked or vetoed by the opposite party. It just causes more problems instead of fixing the situations that needs the new laws.

Either compramise or "make them an offer they can't refuse." The only realistic solutions are to work together or to destroy the oppsoition which probably won't happen and is unethical. People hate to let what they stand for be underminded we all believe heavily in our values and its hard to bend them for someone else.
