sounds like you have a bad throttle position sensor. It will cause all of the symtoms you have discribed. It bolts to the side of the throttl body. Most people think this will cause a code to set, and it sometimes does, but depending on how bad the sensor is, it won't set a code.

i wish i knew the engine size,,because i have owned a sun bird,,and i own a repair shop,,I'm sure i could help you with this,,but these cars came with one of 2 engines and it does make a big difference in the answer i would give may be if you can re-ask the question,,or you can update this question ,by adding to it,,i may be able to help you.

Dirty air filter, clogged catalytic converter, clogged fuel filter or engine out of time.
